In May 2025, Save Mass Wildlife launched its first billboard campaign. The campaign consisted of two billboards for a 4-week run. One of the billboards focused on pet poisonings and featured companion animals that had been killed by anticoagulant rodenticides: Lenny the greyhound and Arturo the tabby cat. The photos were offered by the owners with permission for their use. The billboard was located on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, in the Porter Square neighborhood.
The second billboard was displayed in Quincy center near the MBTA station. The Quincy billboard featured the same companion animals as the Cambridge billboards, as well as several wild animals that died of rodenticides–a female bald eagle from Waltham (the first officially confirmed eagle casualty from SGARs in Massachusetts), a mother Great Horned Owl from Framingham, and a Red Fox treated by Newhouse Wildlife Rescue. These photos were taken by wildlife photographers and rehabbers of these animals, and used with their permission. We felt it was critical to feature real animals harmed or killed by anticoagulants rather than stock images. The billboards were subsidized by a fundraising event to benefit Save Mass Wildlife hosted by Arlington Center for the Arts and a generous donation from Newhouse Wildlife Rescue.
The billboards achieved real results: As the May/June ’25 billboard campaign was wrapping up, the City Council of Cambridge voted to officially ban the use of Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs) on its public properties.
In October 2025, Save Mass Wildlife kicked off its second billboard campaign–this time at the South Station MBTA station. The spot is a digital billboard featuring three billboard slides, including two of the designs below.

We hope to launch more billboards in the future, but need more funding. If you are interested in donating, please visit SaveMassWildlife.org or scan the following QR Code:
